The
Ecumenical Patriachate
The first Christian Church in Byzantium,
as the city was then called, was founded
by the Apostle Andrew in 38 A.D. The
Ecumnical Patriach has been in what
was known as Constantinople since
325 A.D. in the section known as the
Phanar, one of the most historic sections
of the city. The Patriarchate has
gone through many trials and tribulations
in its long history. His Holiness
Patriarch Bartholomew continues with
his many responsibilities at the Patriarchate
and travels extensively throughout
the world.
Hellenic
College - Holy Cross School of Theology
The generous support for Hellenic
College - Holy Cross School of Theology
Scholarship FUnd on September 14th,
the Exaltation of the Holy Cross,
and throughout the year by Philoptochos
Chapters across the Archdiocese is
gratefully acknowledged and appreciated
by the deserving students who are
recipients of scholarship awarded
by the National Philoptochos. In March
in honor of the Veneration of the
Holy Cross the Philoptochos Chapters
pass a try for the needs of the School.
Academy
of St. Basil
There is no more inspiring and beautiful
tradtion in the lives of Philoptochos
members, none more closely associated
with the Academy of Saint Basil than
the cutting of the Vasilopita at the
commencement of the New Year. The
funds generated by this annual gathering
of our chapters and churches are the
source for the $25,000 monthly donation
made by Philoptochos to the operating
expenses of the Academy. It is vitally
important that the purpose and goal
of the Vasilopita be shared with others
and that its success be encouraged.
Philoptochos remains the single largest
donor of the Academy and depends on
the love and dedication of Philoptochos
members across the Archdiocese.
Social
Services
The Department of Social Services
is the heart and sole of the Philoptochos
Society. It is through this avenue
that the Society meets its commitment
to "Philanthropia". With
the continued, generous and selfless
contributions of chapters across the
Archdiocese and of many individual
donors, we have been able to assist
the needy, the infirmed and the destitute.
Children's
Cardiac Program
It is estimated that approximately
30,000 children are born with a heart
defect. Assistance is important since
a congenital heart defect is not a
disease but an abnormality.
Orthodox
Christian Mission Center
The Orthodox Christian Mission Center
is the official mission and evangelism
agency of all the canonical Orthodox
churches in North America. It seeks
to bring our Lord's message to all
who thirst for the water of life.
Saint
Photios National Shrine
The first National Shrine of the Greek
Orthodox Church in America. Based
in St. Augustine, Florida the Shrine
honors the memory of the first colony
of Greeks to arrive in the new world
in the year 1768. St. Photios serves
as a reminder of the sacrifices made
by those early settlers who came to
this new land seeking liberty and
an opportunity to live their lives
according to the word of God.
UNICEF

and development of all children through
