With the assistance of a hired construction consultant, our Architect CJK Design Group and input received from parishioners the Family Center Committee developed a staged approach to the renovation and construction which offers a realization of the Project with no financial risk to the Cathedral’s General Operating funds. We are very pleased to announce that after 6 years of continuous planning and effort construction began on Stage 1 of the project on July 19, 2010.
Below are a description of each of the 3 stages, their cost and estimated time to complete.
Stage 1—Russell Street/West Wing and Entrance
Cost: Estimate $1.3 Million Actual Cost approx $770,000
Construction time: Estimate 4 to 6 months actual timeline approx 12 weeks
Start Date: July 2010
General Contractor: Aberthaw Costruction of Lowell, MA
Stage 1 includes:
Renovation of existing classrooms (1st & 2nd Floor)
Thermal Pane windows
Women’s and Men’s restrooms
Coat Room
Library
Main foyer upgrade from parking lot entrance
HVAC
Performance stage removal
Stage 2—Cotsidas Auditorium Renovation
Cost: estimate <$1M
Construction time: estimate <14 weeks
Start Date: Fall/Winter 2010
Stage 2 includes:
Renovation and upgrade of current function hall
Convertible to Recreation/ Basketball Court
Upgrade of hallways and entrance
Food Pantry with separate entrance
Academic Resource Center
Parking lot and landscape upgrade
Stage 3—Academic Pavilion
Estimate: $2.3 Million
Construction time: 8—12 months
Start Date: TBD
Stage 3 includes:
Foundation layout and new construction of 2 story building with 6 classrooms
Additional bathrooms
Hallways to connect to the main building |
