Fr. Christopher hails from Bangor, Maine. His early interest in Christian missionary work led him to complete a BA in Biblical and Christian studies. Completing his Masters of Divinity from Holy Cross, he served briefly as an assistant at St. Vasilios Orthodox Church in Peabody, MA. Then he was in Kabul, Afghanistan as an Orthodox Army Chaplain, serving as the battalion chaplain for the historic 1-181 Infantry of Worcester, MA. He still serves in this capacity, being a Guardsman of 15 years.
When asked about the value of life experiences and the twists in life and God’s providence and how they prepare for service in Christ’s Church, he refers to the miracle of the feeding of the five thousand in the Gospel of John. Our Lord, like the loaves, He multiplied, takes our lives, blesses them, breaks them and gives the fragments to others. None of the fragments of the loaves are lost in this Gospel text. In the same way, none of the events in our life, even from our brokenness, are lost, but are meant to feed, edify and nourish others. This understanding of our life being Eucharistic- a gift and thank offering to God- should be a rudder to guide our ministry and help us manage difficult times.
